The
Air-to-Art
Showcase
This showcase lists the world’s first Carbon Artists, transforming CO₂ emissions into valuable art collectibles. Each piece in this exclusive collection is crafted using acrylic paints infused with Atierra’s CΛRBONLock White—a chalk powder made from captured CO₂.
Atierra creates CΛRBONLock White by bubbling CO₂-rich air through a calcium hydroxide solution, where it transforms into calcium carbonate—chalk that locks carbon away. Once dried, artists blend this CO₂-absorbed chalk into their acrylic paints, adding unique texture and depth to their work.

Yukako Nishimura
Okinawa, Japan
Born in Tanba-Sasayama and now living in Okinawa, Yukako paints with her fingers, drawing inspiration from the island’s vibrant nature. The ocean breeze, fluttering butterflies, and island winds awakened her creativity, leading her to express emotions directly on canvas. Since 2019, she has painted daily for over 1,000 days, deepening her bond with nature. In 2022, she showcased a piece crafted from cigarette filters collected during a beach cleanup, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the UNEP International Environmental Technology Centre.

Shivani Sathish
Okinawa, Japan
Originally from Ooty, India, and now based in Okinawa, Atierra's co-founder Shivani creates expressive acrylic paintings and sketch drawings. Though not a professional artist, she has been drawing since her teens, alongside her education in science. Her black-and-white sketches are inspired by photographs, while her acrylic paintings draw from the natural beauty of Earth and the mysteries of space, often leaning toward the abstract. Shivani is excited to merge her love for art and science, transforming pollution into art through Atierra's Air-to-Art project.
